Description

Lagenaria phielaptimus, or rootfruit (the common name used by colonists), is a genetically modified gourd that was accidentally released into the Phiela planet's ecosystem during the initial terraforming efforts of the Phiela Expeditionary Forces.

Though the government officially classifies this vegetable as unfit for human consumption, rootfruit is found in various wild areas surrounding Phiela City, and is often used by colonists as an ingredient in homebrewed foodstuffs and beverages.
